To the Editor.
—The article entitled "Withdrawing Care: Experience in a Medical Intensive Care Unit" by Dr Lee and colleagues1 is an important addition to the literature. However, that title is painful to read! We can withdraw ventilators, we can withdraw life support, we may even sometimes withdraw treatment, but we never withdraw care. Francis Peabody would be very distressed with the authors and/or your editorial staff.2
