To the Editor.
—In the article by Dr Garg and colleagues,1 what was the "high-carbohydrate diet" proportion of simple carbohydrates (eg, sugars, fruit) to complex carbohydrates (eg, vegetables)? It would have been important to know this, because of the obvious effects of simple carbohydrates on triglyceride levels, insulin requirements, and the like. The question should have been resolved before making any comment favoring higher fat content in diets for diabetics.
I believe omission of this information shows bias on the part of Garg et al and nullifies their conclusions.
