—Thank you for pointing out the error in the legend to Figure 1. "HTN Coop" refers to the Hypertension-Stroke Cooperative Study Group. Data in Figure 1 are derived from the HTN Coop study (as is indicated in the legend to the figure) and not from the HDFP study. No data in Figure 1 are given for the HDFP because cause-specific morbidity and mortality data for elderly persons that were not adjusted for other factors such as race and sex were not found. Figure 2 references are correct with the right panel relevant to younger adults citing original reference 31 (overall HDFP results) and the left panel relevant to older adults citing original reference 4 (HDFP total mortality data for older subjects).
