Customized Probability Models for Severe Sepsis: Correction and Clarification

To the Editor.

—Dr Le Gall and colleagues1 provided customized versions of the Simplified Acute Physiology Score II (SAPS II) and the 24-hour Mortality Probability Model II (MPM II24) to establish the probability of mortality for intensive care unit (ICU) patients with early severe sepsis. On page 647, the authors provide equations for calculating the probability of mortality for both the SAPS II and the MPM II24. The equations for the customized SAPS II and MPM II24 are incorrect and should be as follows:
