To the Editor.
—I noted with interest in the article by Drs Bodenheimer and Grumbach1 on the reconfiguration of US medicine that the four major actors in health care did not include consumers. Because I was a physician assistant in a previous incarnation, I frequently get the brunt of someone's cocktail party complaints about the health care system. It's hard enough to deal with the legitimate concerns of the public without providing more ammunition to critics in one of the country's leading medical journals. I would have thought that the patients would have figured somewhere in this analysis.
