To the Editor.
—Dr Kong and colleagues1 reported that elevation of CK following elective coronary artery intervention is associated with increased late cardiac mortality.1 Earlier reports of placebo-controlled animal studies with pretreatment with coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)2,3 found that the animals pretreated with CoQ10 had less ischemia-reperfusion cardiac injury. They showed less myocardial tissue injury and lower CK and malondialdehyde release.
