—Dr Paulshock and I agree that primary physicians hold information crucial to their patient's care, both in the hospital and out of it. She asks about how we should be reimbursed for contributing this necessary information, but I do not have the answers to all her important questions. I would respond with one of my own: should our profession look to outside payers to define our roles in patient care?
Was I paid for my visits? The answer depends on one's point of view.
