Quality of Medical Information on the Internet-Reply

To the Editor.

—We are pleased to see that Mr Mack is among the increasing number of medical content developers who recognize that the promulgation and application of quality criteria for health and medical information on the Internet can benefit both producers and consumers of such information. We also agree with Ms Strauss that providing credible, relevant, and useful educational information is a significant component of the physician's imperative to deliver the highest-quality health care to patients. We hope that the widespread adoption of quality criteria like those we propose, and heightened awareness of them, will lead more physicians to include medical sites on the Internet among the resources they offer patients. We believe this approach will make the important educational component of the patient-physician relationship that much more valuable.
