The differential diagnosis and operative treatment of tumors of the neck, are subjects which belong to the most imperfect and unsatisfactory topics in surgery. The great difficulties which are often encountered in the diagnosis of cervical tumors, and the importance of the anatomical structures which are involved in all operative procedures for their removal, val, are well known and appreciated by all who can speak from personal experience. One of the most important, and, at the same time, one of the darkest chapters treating of tumors in this region, relates to cystic tumors, and more particularly that variety which originates from congenital defects of development, the matrix being composed of fœtal epiblastic or hypoblastic tissue, which remains in its embryonal state for an indefinite time, and later, by proliferation of its epithelial elements, gives rise . . .
