Abstract
Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate was found to be migrating from polyvinyl chloride blood tubing into human blood during hemodialysis in 16 patients with end-stage renal failure. Although toxic effects have not yet been observed, we believe plastic tubing that does not contain extractable materials should be developed.
