I had the pleasure of reviewing these five CD-ROMs, which deal with the current technology of laparoscopic general surgery and represent a very interesting approach to the education of future surgeons. Three present procedures for surgeons, and two are intended for patients.

The procedure disks, which are similar in format, deal with cholecystectomy, inguinal hernia repair, and Nissen fundoplication, all laparoscopic. After a brief introduction, a table of contents directs the user to pathophysiology; preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative workup, and follow-up; and recognizing and treating complications.
