The fourth edition of Skeletal Trauma in Children, a popular textbook on the management of fractures and soft-tissue injuries in this population, is a stand-alone companion to the 2-volume Skeletal Trauma, which deals with fractures in adult patients. The editors have enlisted as authors orthopedic trauma surgeons with an interest in pediatric trauma as well as pediatric orthopedic surgeons actively involved in the care of trauma patients. This arrangement makes for a more compelling read, because the 2 groups approach trauma problems differently. Skeletal Trauma in Children has achieved great success in the orthopedic community because the editors have kept the chapters concise and easy to read. The text maintains the format of prior editions. The photographs and diagrams are large and well executed. In the new edition, color has been added to the diagrams and more color photographs have been included, making the book more visually pleasing. …
