The JAMA Patient Page, News Releases and Videos, and This Week in JAMA are freely available without registration. JAMA research articles (including Original Contributions, Preliminary Communications, Brief Reports, Reviews, and Research letters) are freely available 6 months after publication. Selected articles, including the lead article of the current issue, are also freely available.
JAMA Patient Page
Past JAMA Patient Pages are available in English (see instructions below), Spanish, and French. All versions are freely available.
To search for a JAMA Patient Page on a particular topic:
- Go to Advanced Search
- Under "Specify dates, article type" and the section Include articles in the section: select "JAMA Patient Page" (at the bottom of the section list)
- Enter the terms you wish to search under Text | Abstract | Title
- Click on "Search"
To receive an e-mail alert when a new JAMA Patient Page is published:
- Go to Topic Collection Alerts sign up
- Enter your user name and password or e-mail address
- Select JAMA Patient Page (located at the bottom of the list)
News Releases and Videos
News releases are brief summaries of original research articles and editorials published in JAMA and the Archives Journals, written in lay persons’ terms. Videos also summarize the results and implications of studies published in JAMA. Video transcripts are available as well.
