Originally called Pulse and created in 1975 by the American Medical Association Medical Student Section, Medical Student JAMA provided a forum for critical exchange on current issues on medical education, research, and practice. Beginning in 1988, it was produced as a within-issue "supplement" by a group of medical student editors in collaboration with the JAMA editorial staff and was published monthly from September through May until 2004, when it was discontinued (read editorial). The content of Medical Student JAMA included wrtiting by medical students, physicians, and other researchers, as well as original medical student artwork and creative writing. The articles and viewpoints in Medical Student JAMA do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the American Medical Association or of JAMA.
